In contrast to the rest of the group, Patrick's musical background was instrumental, not vocal. An accomplished trombone player, Pat spent his high school days playing in the jazz band and his nights directing the marching band as the drum major.

Following some time as a religious missionary to the foreign locales of Montana and Wyoming, Pat moved to Logan to attend Utah State University, where he tried valiantly to major in aerospace engineering. Though he did well in his engineering classes, in the end he came to the conclusion that music was his true destiny and made the smooth transition from aero. engin. to music compostition.

He secured a vocal scholarship with the Department of Programs and Entertainment, where his talents were utilized in a number of areas—from creating original jazz arrangements (both vocal and instrumental) to serving as recording and mixing engineer for two albums (1999’s “Swingin’ Thru WWII” and 2000’s “Go Tell It”).

Patrick is from Kaysville, UT, and functions as Eclipse’s primary songwriter and arranger. He also sings second tenor and is not to be trifled with when it comes to the games of Star Wars Trivial Pursuit and Warcraft.

In September of 2003, Patrick relocated to Boston to where he would study Film Scoring as well as stretching in various musical directions from jazz to pop to R&B. His first semester provided the opportunity to write for the "Singers' Showcase" concert, the premiere student concert at the school. The chance to collaborate with some of the brightest young musicians was one of the highlights of his time at the school. A positive relationship with the show's producer developed and Patrick became a regular arranger for the show. During the two years Patrick spent in Boston, he transcribed film scores into electonic Finale format from the original composer's sketches and scores which had been donated to the college. The experience of going note by note through scores from such composers as John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Michael Kamen and others proved instrumental in Patrick's development of his own composition and orchestration technique.

In May 2005, Patrick finished his studies at Berklee and moved to Los Angeles in the fall of that year. He now works as a professional composer, arranger, and music director.
